Women's Networking Tips - Before the Event 2
To make the most of a networking event, you need to be in the right frame of mind - and that means preparing beforehand. Make sure you have enough business cards on you, and any other promotional literature or items that you need. Business cards are a basic requirement unless you want to appear completely unprepared and unprofessional. Remember that a networking meeting is a business meeting. Arrive on time, not in a rush, and be calm - take a deep breath before you enter if you need. Arriving early can be a good move if you're a nervous networker and feel intimidated by crowds. That way you can get into the swing of the event quickly and you'll barely notice when the room starts filling up. An early start also gives you time to look at the delegate list, plan who you want to speak to and be able to keep an eye open for when they arrive.

I'll be posting a series of these networking tips. Many are useful general advice for anyone networking so men shouldn't feel that there will be nothing for them. But there are particular issues that can affect women when networking and which can raise difficulties unless those networkers are aware of them. I'll be getting to those soon.
